The black 32GB Lumia 1020 RM-877 from Nokia
puts a high-end camera into surprisingly a portable smartphone for

- 41MP Nokia PureView Camera with Zeiss Optics

The main rear camera of the Nokia 1020 features a
headline-grabbing 41MP, but the camera on the Nokia 1020 has far more
then pixel count going for it. The image sensor is back-side illuminated
and is 1/1.5", which is far larger than typical smartphone cameras and
even larger than most point-and-shoot photo cameras. This means that the
individual 41 Million photosites on the 1020's image sensor are no
smaller than the photosites on most smartphone cameras. In front of the
image sensor is an impressive 6-element, 26mm equivalent, f/2.2 lens
with Zeiss Optics, further making sure all 41MPs don't go to waste. The
image sensor is also slightly larger then the lens circle which allows
for both 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios to capture as much of the lens's
image circle as is possible, both 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios capture
about 38MP of the entire 41MP sensor. The 1020 also features a
mechanical shutter.
The Nokia 1020's camera also features optical image stabilization, which allows the camera to use slower shutter speeds and gather more light without adding motion blur from shaky hands. And if you need even more light the 1020's Xenon Flash will produce much better looking results then typical LED flashes. The front of the 1020 also features a 1.2MP front facing camera for video chatting or capturing more candid photographs.
The PureView camera can capture images in JPEG or RAW in 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratios. It can also record 1080p HD video at 30 fps with up to a 6x digital zoom.
- PureView Sampling and High Resolution Zoom
- The Nokia 1020 lets you save full resolution JPEG or RAW photographs if you desire maximum quality, and is also able to downsample the full 38MP to ultra-sharp 5MP photos for easier sharing with social networks or email. The downsampled 5MP photos can be saved simultaneously with the full resolution ones, or you can just save the 5MP photos to save space on your phone. The ultra high resolution image sensor also allows for a high quality digital zoom, as a 5MP photo at 3x zoom is still capturing the full 5MP center of the 41MP image sensor.
- Full Manual Control with Nokia Pro Camera
- Complimenting the 1020's high end camera is the Nokia Pro Camera app. When using Nokia Pro Camera you have easy access to manual controls like ISO, Shutter Speed, White Balance, Exposure Compensation, and Manual Focus. You can edit all of these settings manually or set some to automatic and choose which ones you want to edit. White balance modes include cloudy, incandescent, fluorescent, daylight, and automatic; and ISO selection includes ISO 100, ISO 200, ISO 400, ISO 1600, ISO 3200, as well as automatic. Other Nokia Camera Apps are included like the Panorama app for stitching together panoramic photos, Cinemagraph for creating sharable movie-like animated images from several photographs, and more.

This phone is designed to work on select GSM networks and is
4G LTE capable. LTE is an advanced cellular network data protocol
capable of data speeds so fast that they compete with wired broadband
internet providers. With an LTE connection, this phone should have no
problem streaming HD video, downloading apps, uploading photos, or
anything else that requires a high-speed data connection. The phone is
also backwards compatible with 3G and 2G data for instances when you
can't get LTE. In addition to cellular wireless, this phone also
features Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity.

- This phone features the Windows Phone 8 operating system. Windows Phone 8 features a customizable home screen with resizable Live Tiles that update in real-time, making it easy to follow what's happening with your friends, family, apps, news, and social media sites. In addition to Live Tiles, Windows Phone has many unique features, including integrated digital "Lens" apps that can be easily accessed directly from within the stock camera app, as well as the Kids Corner feature that allows you to control which apps your children have access to on your phone. Windows Phone 8 also features integrated access to Xbox Live, Xbox Music, and SkyDrive cloud storage. - The Nokia 1020 features a 4.5" AMOLED display with a 15:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1280 x 768 and a pixel density of 334 ppi. AMOLED displays are known for their high contrast rations and strong colors. And the Lumia 1020's AMOLED display features 24-bit TrueColor with support for up to 16 million colors. The screen also features a Nokia ClearBlack Polarizer filter to reduce glare and increase sunlight readability as well as Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for scratch and shatter protection. The display also adjusts to your viewing environment as it comes equipped with an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, and proximity sensor.
- Navigation
- Navigation applications found on the Nokia Lumia 1020 include HERE City Lens, HERE Drive +, HERE Maps and, HERE Transit. Navigation features found in these apps include public transportation routing guidance, free maps, automatic day/night view switching, offline maps, speed limit warnings, the ability to download the latest maps over Wi-Fi, free turn-by-turn walking navigation, and free global voice guided turn-by-turn drive navigation. To aid with Navigation the Lumia 1020 features GPS as well as a compass.

- Included with the Lumia 1020 is Nokia MixRadio. This intuitive music application brings free streamed mixes of music created to your personal taste with no subscription fee or advertising. Along with free streaming radio, the Lumia 1020 comes with an integrated FM radio and is compatible with a variety of codecs including MP3, AAC LC, AMR-NB, GSM FR, HE-ACC, WMA 10 Pro, WMA9, HE-ACCv2 and file formats including MP4, AAC, MP3, M4A, WMA, 3G2, and AMR. In addition to music playback, you can record voice in MMS and OneNote in the GSM FR recording codec.
